Is not the war only in the movie!?

“The concept of the war is as old as of the humanity. One may say that the war take source together with the humanity and is an extreme form of the communication. If we estimate it philosophically, the war is also commerce resulted by dividing or exchange of something.

Any war leaves physical, social – psychological, economic and ecological results. What is the most painful abhorrence and disrespect towards the opposite side, fear of the future and difficulty of commencement the negotiations always follow the war”, we can read such definition of the war in encyclopedias and dictionaries and it is impossible not to agree with it, but for some reason war for XXI century is considered as unsuitable. Despite tension in the conflict regions Georgians also could not imagine that the war would have started, though very soon we also turn out to be towards cruel reality, yes, the conflict developed into the war.

After some days of consideration, the government of Georgia declared the martial law.

I would like just to remind you that the most important occurrence of Georgia-Russia’s war (It is clear for everyone why we call it Georgia-Russia’s War and not Georgia – Ossetia’s War) have been developed from August 11, when the invaders began massive attack on Georgian army and have accomplished factual blockade of the territory of Georgia. Simultaneously, storm-boats of
Russia have approached PotiPort, Russians have occupied the cities of Georgia – Gori, Poti, Zugdidi, Senaki and Kareli without any problem practically.

In August 11, at night the information has been spread that for two o’clock at night they were planning to occupy Tbilisi. The capital was seized by panic. Many people were trying in direction of Kakheti.

I will allow myself, to express my personal feeling in the article. I will not hide and tell you that I have been spending my leave in the calmest and secure zone, in my village in Kakheti. The population of the previously mentioned region, as a rule, is able to keep calm. At a single glance I have been trying to escape from the reality and managed to keep calm, but I felt that to stay far was much more difficult. One question has never been leaving my mind – was that war inevitable. I am still eager to put the question loudly by the press, but I am not hopeful that I will receive a response.

Reaction of the children was much more painful and surprising to calm down whom was much more and more difficult: “are they going to kill us?” has bee asking 4 years old Nikusha: “the war is only in the movie!” used to say surprised two years old Dato.

They say, that winner in the war does not exist. But we would like to ask the question, what has this war brought to
Georgia? - unfortunately nothing positive, besides the friendly countries and solidarity practically of the whole world. Humanitarian aid was rendered from the whole world. We feel support from everybody. The government tries to calm us that everything is going to be alright, they will build everything from the very beginning, but for some reason it avoids to talk about that great sacrifice which took place as well as from the military so from peaceful population .

For this time, by the official data, as a result of Russian aggression, 215 persons died and 1469 were wounded. The population has doubt about this numbers they factually do not believe it. The lost territories is painful for the population of Georgia and deep in their hearts they had a hope that some day these territories would have become an integral part of Georgia, but today they acknowledged that the chance equals zero. To the contrary, Russia is going to increase its administrative borders.

As a result of the war the regions of Georgia have been separated from each other. It is almost impossible to connect the Western and Eastern Georgia to each other by the land transport, what is psychological shock for the Georgian man…

City Gori is a separate question of discussion. It is the hardest situation there. The pain of Gori is pain for all of us. Today the city being in the hardest condition is associated with the city connecting with the west of
Georgia. The foreign press names city Gori “city ghost”.

And finally, the result the sacrifice is every family. It is truth, they do not talk about an economic loss for this time, neither the scales of the loss is determined, but any unprofessional knows that very soon we will feel it, not speaking about destroyed infrastructure.

Despite of the aforesaid, after the agreement on ceasing the fire was officially signed everyone calmed down, but the hope that Russian soldiers were going in August 18 and the country would have returned to the normal rhythm of life was not true. The population and whole Georgia has been waiting for that day impatiently.

Pool out of Russian troops from Georgia is the most important question for everyone, though it is not the end. The question why the war began and if it was possible to avoid the conflict - troubles every Georgian. As yet the oppositional parties prefer to stay in shadow, but it does not mean that they have not got their idea concerning the Georgian – Ossetian conflict. This war will become the subject of discussion; meanwhile the attention of Georgian population is attracted to the pool out of Russian troops. Unfortunately by the data of August 19, neither Georgian nor foreign mass media gave us the base to be optimistic.

“For now there is no sign that the Russians are going to leave Georgia. Russia is not going to keep the agreement proposed by the president of France” – declared NATO secretary - general Jaap De Hoop Scheffer... “France is very disappointed by the action of Russia”- considers the minister of foreign affairs of France - Bernard Kouchner ...

“One may say that the aforesaid crisis poisons the relations of Russia and NATO much more” such was discussion of the situation in Georgia by the French press which was combined in the article of a journalist of France – Press under the title - “Russia delays pool out of its troops from Georgia”.

Georgian press of August 19 has been writing the same, though one could find out a monosemantic difference. In August 19, while celebrating Transfiguration, Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II declared that Georgia has never been in such danger and Georgian people will have to overcome it. However patriarch the same time have consoled whole Georgia: “Today we especially think about Georgia, about our future. We beg our God to calm our hearts and amalgamate our country, it will happen by all means. We do not have to fall in despair; man should not become hopeless. It is possible that Georgia has never got such danger, but it means that after this trouble the God is preparing great favor. Let God make us worth of this great favor and let mercy of Transfiguration protect you and whole Georgia” – said the patriarch. ”
